About Community Action Commission of Belmont County

Mission & Values — The Community Action Commission (CAC) is dedicated to fostering self-reliance in individuals, families, and communities. For over 40 years, CAC has focused on helping low-income residents overcome poverty, as well as poverty's causes and consequences.

History — The Community Action Commission of Belmont County began in May of 1965 as a part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. Since that time, our agency has worked toward developing solutions to address poverty and poverty's effects.

Volunteer Opportunities — Community Action welcomes the assistance of volunteers from the community. If you are interested in learning about volunteer opportunities, please call 740-695-0293, Extension 236.

Our Governing Board — Our 15 member Governing Board is comprised of a group of individuals who are dedicated to our mission. Representing the low income, and the public and private sectors, the Board is responsible for setting the framework within which the organization operates.
