This office is a HUD and AHECI certified housing counseling and education agency and an Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) designated CHDO (community Housing Development Office. In existence since 1996, this office is involved with the development of affordable housing for the residents of Belmont County. It also provides homebuyers and homeowner education to all interested customers in the area.
In
various years the CAC CHDO of office has rehabilitated homes to
be sold to customers needing income eligibility guidelines that
were purchased by graduates of the Home Buyer Education classes.
Grants were received for construction of six homes built in St.
Clairsville and Barnesville. Counseling available to customers includes: 1. Housing Counseling- conducted either one on one with a client or in group settings in seminars. These include and depth analysis of budgeting, home selection, financing and closing, home maintenance, insurance, and post closing. These classes are available by request from this office. 2. HECM Counseling - conducted on a one on one basis with the senior citizen who is interested in the reverse mortgage program. 3. Foreclosure Counseling - conducted on a one-on-one for met with steps to avoid foreclosure, wet winters are obligated by law to do about delinquency, options available, and prevention plans. 4. Credit Repair Counseling - educating the customer on the importance of having a good credit history.
The fair housing law is stressed during all counseling activities. The client’s rights are explained in review. Complaints are referred to the Belmont County Fair Housing Commission at 740-695-2121, ext. 255.
