summer foodThe Community Action Commission of Belmont County announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for Children.

Free meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under or persons over 18 who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled. The meals will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Any person who believes he or she has been discriminated against in any USDA –related activity should write or call immediately to the U. S. Meals will be provided at the site(s) listed below:

  • Lansing Garden Apartments in Lansing
  • Francis Wallace Apartments in Bellaire
  • Jaycee Manor Apartments in Martins Ferry
  • St. Myer Terrace Apartments in Martins Ferry

The program will begin June 8, 2009 and will end on August 14, 2009. Meals will be served Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

The summer food service program for children was established in 1968 to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals during school vacations.

Determined by eligibility, children ages one to eighteen and any person determined to be mentally or physically disabled are provided free lunches at specific areas throughout Belmont County from June through the middle of August.
